My name is Mark Long and I am the owner. I would like to inform you on the choices you have in repiping your home. Copper piping is replaced by repiping in this town every single day. Pin holes in copper pipe are caused by the high pH acid that is in Florida’s water. Also some lightning strikes and electrical grounding issues can cause pin holes to spring a leak as well.
Here at Longs Certified Plumbing we are glad to announce we are now using PEX pipe on most repipes and remodels. Cross-linked polyethylene, commonly abbreviated PEX, XPE or XLPE, is a form of polyethylene with cross-links. It is used predominantly in building services pipe work systems, hydronic radiant heating and cooling systems, domestic water piping, and insulation for high tension electrical cables. We have found it to be a reliable option and cost effective to save money for our customers. The warranty on PEX pipe is 20 or 25 years depending on manufacturer. When installed and tested properly you should never need it. We don't cut corners and use brass fittings to insure a long life of the system.
We also want you to know that the owner and/or part-owner [son] will be on the job to supervise everything to make sure everything is done to the highest standards. Most repipes are done by installing new pipes in the attic and down the walls to all fixtures. If you currently have polybutylene pipe in your house now is a good time to repipe your home in PEX. Why wait for floods or leaks? Or be forced to repipe by your insurance company? Home values with polybutylene are as much as 20% lower than homes with PEX.
